Christmas Ornament Dangers for Dogs
Snow globes, and other Dangers for Dogs
Some (not all, but many) contain Ethylene Glycol
Ethylene glycol is odorless but has a sweet taste, which can attract animals, particularly cats and dogs, to lick up the liquid if a globe breaks.
Ingestion can lead to severe health issues, including kidney failure, and can be fatal.
Err on the cautious side and keep globes up at a height or in cabinets where they can’t be knocked off by enthusiastic tail wags or playing
Also hand baked ornaments, lots of ‘salt dough’ being hung adorns the home and on trees
These pose a serious danger due to the high salt content which can cause severe salt toxicity (hypernatremia), leading to vomiting, seizures, coma, and even death in dogs and cats.
Keep safe, have fun, Merry Christmas
Final reminder:
Dogs are speaking to us – but we’re not listening, especially when we have a million other things demanding our attention.
Your dog doesn’t give a monkeys chuff about Christmas.
They care about feeling safe, understood and able to rest.
Calm isn’t boring.
Calm is kindness.
Supporting your dog emotionally now prevents behavioural fallout later — and keeps everyone safe and sane.
That’s the real Christmas gift.
